Haiku Summer School - Optional Solo Activities

We know that some of you may have space to do other haiku-related activities during Haiku Summer School week, so we have provided some options below. Please don't worry if you don't have time or don't want to do any of these, they are totally optional. Also if you just want to look at them but not do them, that is definitely an option too. You get to choose!

For those that do one or more of the activities, there will be the option to tell us how you've been getting on with them in the 'Optional activities check-ins' either on Wednesday or Thursday. There will also be a briefing at those sessions on the third optional activity (a snoop around some of the Call of the Page archives), so do come along if you'd like to find out about that, even if you didn't do the first two activities.

The different options, with links to more information, are shown below.

  • Renga -  join us in adding a verse to our Summer School renga. You can contribute as many verses as you would like throughout Haiku Summer School. On the Renga page you'll see a Comment box where you can add your line. (We're sorry there is also one of those security check questions, which we haven't managed to switch off. It also asks for your email, but this is kept private, and won't show when you post your verse).  At the end of Summer School we will read out the full renga, during the Celebration & Performance time. You can take part in the Summer School Renga using the link below. Alan has started us off with a verse. We (Alison, Karen and Alan) are also looking forward to joining in: Summer School Renga.

  • Personal Ginko - During the extra activity briefing on Tuesday, we'll have offered some advice about conducting a personal ginko, with the chance to discuss your options for where to do that, whether during a healthy break from screen time outside, or even if it's an indoor "armchair" ginko. We look forward to hearing about your ginko and the work you created if you opt for this extra activity!

In addition, on Wednesday/Thursday you will be briefed about the third optional activity, which is a snoop around some of the Call of the Page prompt archives! This is the link .
