This is a brand new course!
Start Date: Tuesday 15th September 2026
End Date: Tuesday 1st December 2026
Format: Not live (asynchronous). Participants work individually on written assignments in their own time, and submit them according to the course calendar provided.
Level: Advanced. Participants may have done previous courses with us, such as Intermediate Haiku, One-Line Haiku, Haiku Across the Senses, or our Haibun courses, and now wish to concentrate specifically on furthering their haiku.
No. of Assignments and Feedback: 4
Group Size: up to 6
Course Description:
There will first be a pre-assignment with this course, inviting participants to consider where they are in their plans for haiku writing, their ambitions for their forthcoming writing, and how the poems written during this course will further their aims.
Two new haiku poems are sent in for each assignment, and from assignment two onwards, an amended poem from the previously submitted work can also be included for further comment. Haiku can be in the one line, two line or three line style. Unusually for Call of the Page, we will not be offering prompts for each assignment, but instead, as this is an advanced course, we will be supporting participants in choosing their own prompts, in keeping with the ambitions and ideas for writing areas brought out in their pre-assignments.
Participants will receive detailed feedback on their poems from Alan Summers, within a single document sent to all the group, for shared learning and development.
By the end of the course, participants will have up to 8 deeply considered haiku, lots of ideas and notes for further haiku, and a further developed sense of where they are in their haiku writing.
Cost: £280 (approximately US$377)
Early Bird: £260 (approximately US$ 350) (finishes end of 31st August)
