Haiku Playback

Our first video feedback haiku course is here! Video and audio combined is a great way for Alan to comment on your haiku poems, allowing him to hone in really clearly on specific lines and words.

Start Date:  Tuesday 6th January 2026

End Date:  Thursday 26th March 2026

Format: Not live (asynchronous). Participants work individually on written assignments in their own time, and submit them according to the course calendar provided. For each of the assignments, each group member will then be given access to the same video, which includes everyone's assignment, in video and audio, and all of the tutor's feedback for the group. This is the first time we are running this course, but we anticipate each of these videos lasting between 75 and 100 minutes.

Level: Suitable for those who have already written and studied haiku and wish to continue their writing with in-depth feedback (which is supplied in video format to the group in a single video).

Access Note: We want this course, and its video content, to be accessible to those with visual or hearing impairments. Please email us if this applies to you, and we will make sure you are catered for.

No. of Assignments and Feedback:  4

Group Size:  up to 5  (4 places left)

Course Description: At the start of every assignment, participants will be offered an optional prompt, via private pages on the Call of the Page website, from which to write and submit two haiku. From assignment two onwards, there is an option to send a rewrite of a previous haiku for further feedback, in place of one of the new ones. Nine to ten days after the submission date (we allow a little longer than usual haiku feedback, for final video edits), the feedback video will be sent to the group for download.

At the end of the course, participants will have between 5 and 8 haiku (depending on how many rewrites are sent rather than new poems). Participants will also have access to the 4 videos, which they can continue to watch again in their own time.
