Your End-of-Term Gallery

You are invited to re-send as many of your six shahai as you would like, with any amendments you have made, to an end of term gallery for your work.

We know that creating, and/or re-creating a shahai can be a time-consuming and absorbing process, and so the submission box will be open until Sunday 8th January 2023. We will let you know when the gallery is available to view. Please note this is still a private class-only gallery and does not count as publishing, should you wish to send your "unpublished" shahai to an online journal in due course.

Revising your work

Some bullet points for your consideration as you anticipate and/or revise your shahai work:

• The two Alan's have studied your work closely when giving their feedback. However, you remain in control of your work, and all feedback is for consideration by you, rather than an instruction! You retain "authorship" and are making your own final decisions about your shahai. Your final work may choose to take the advice in varying degrees, and that's absolutely how it should be!

• It is recommended that you go back and study your feedback from the beginning as you review your work. It's easy to forget the detail of what has been said, and in fact the key to improving your shahai is often in exactly that detail!

• As well as reviewing the feedback on your own work, have a think about the feedback to other students too. There is a lot there, but you will likely have picked up on the fact that other participants can have similar characteristics to you in their poetic or photographic development, and so the advice to them might equally apply to how you are wanting to develop in your own work.

• Reconstructing your shahai may go as far back as taking a new photograph, in the light of technical advice, or framing, or for any other reason. We have the challenge that seasons have changed, which may or may not be problematic for your shahai! But you may also be surprised at how your existing poem and new or substitute photo come together.

• Hopefully you will have retained some files of your original photograph, so that if you wish to tweak the poem, it will be straightforward for you to do so.

• Whilst this is the end of term gallery, this is still part of the development begun with the course, and you may not feel your piece is perfect yet... but it will still show a journey in our learning and be very welcome.
