Do you live, work, or shop in Chippenham, Wiltshire? Call of the Page are delighted to be collecting Chippenham's Chosen Words as part of Fringe Feb 21. The festival, organised by One Chippenham, and Chippenham Arts & Culture, is in its second year, this time with the challenges of lockdown.
You can check out more online events on the Fringe Feb 21 webpages. The festival takes place over the last weekend of February and the first weekend of March. There's art, there are crafts, there's photography, there's music, there's theatre, there's poetry, there's comedy... and due to the generosity of Chippenham Borough Lands Charity, these events are all free!
In the meantime, please read on to take part in Chippenham's Chosen Words...
That's exactly what we would like to know. For Fringe Feb, we are collecting
Chippenham's Chosen Words.
The words can be sad or joyful, precious, or inspiring, or even someone's name, but they are the ones we feel are the most important to us at this time.
You can also give reasons for picking your words.
You can take part as an individual, or as a household, online here,
or through the leaflet that has been delivered around Chippenham.
We hope you enjoy discussions with friends and family as you choose your words. You can only send your words in once, so choose carefully!
We'll look out for the leading words on the last weekend of Fringe Feb, but you have until 11.59 pm on Monday 8th March to take part.
We will be collating Chippenham's Chosen Words to find out which of them are most important to the town at this time. Later in March, look out for a memento leaflet delivered to the town's households, announcing the most frequently chosen words. The results will feature on BBC Radio Wiltshire, and will also appear on the Call of the Page and One Chippenham websites.
There will be a final, comprehensive list of Chippenham's Chosen Words available for download. We hope you will be inspired to flick through, find your words in the list - and enjoy browsing through the others and some of the reasons given for choosing them.
Thank you for taking part.
If there's someone in Chippenham with whom you are in telephone contact, but who isn't online, please ask them to look out for the Fringe Feb 21 leaflet coming around the town in February.
Submissions postmarked by Monday 8th March will be included,
or with their permission you can fill in the online form for them.
Thank you for helping us reach people who are offline.
It's an important part of this project in isolated times!
You are invited to follow the progress of Chippenham's Chosen Words on Twitter.
You can also tweet to let people know what words you have sent in and why.
